Our Mission

We're committed to nurturing the awareness of birds through the appreciation of their presence in our backyards, parks, and wilds. We foster an inviting culture and seek to create lovers of birds, of all ages, in Texas and even the world.

Finally, our hope is you'll develop an unending care for these creatures.  What you grow to love you will learn to protect!

Our Story

On Dec. 3rd 2012 Jim Hailey and Barry Noret had a chat about the need of a "friendly" Facebook group for the purpose of posting bird photos from Texas.  Jim created the group and little did they know at the time that the group would grow into one of most active birding groups on the web.  Currently, there are over 36,000 members, and on average, there are 200 new photos posted to its timeline each day.  Hence, the goal is to take that community to the next level here!

Meet the Team

With humble beginnings on Facebook, Birds of Texas has grown into a thriving destination for all bird lovers in Texas. We attribute this to the welcoming culture of the group and quality of engagement from it's members.  We'll carry that culture over to this website!
